I Love This Time of the Year

After a weekend of playing hard, I'm now working hard on getting ready for the Home Show this weekend. About as ready as I'm going to get.

This is my favorite time of the year. I love the holidays, the cooler weather and great family and friend times.

And speaking of family and friends, I went camping with my kids again, along with some friends. We went to the beach and the weather was perfect, we had a great time and good food and Halloween was a ball. Everyone decorated their camp sites and were in costumes. Oh, and I have a wreck on my daughter's bicycle. She forbids me to ride it again. My only regret was that no one had a video in hand and I could have made big bucks on America's Funniest Videos.

Cards from National Card Making Day

I'm back! Been playing catch up around here the last couple of days. As you know I promised you some of the cards we made at National Card Making Day. Just a few today but check back on Thursday and I'll have more.

The event this past Saturday was a big success. Margie, Maria and I have all gotten great feed back and folks want to know how long before we do the next one. Our plan is to do one every time a new Mini Catalogue comes out. That way we all get great samples to show and get together and visit and meet the newcomers than have joined our groups.

The first card and the cutest thing I've every seen, was done by Susan Ward .

 

Another absolutely beatiful card by Barbara Olson. Love the unique way she did the ribbon on the side.

I love this stamp set. Not a new one but a fine one and I love the treatment of it on this card. I think this is Molly Fyvie's card. Too Cute.

National Card Making Day

Yesterday was National Card Making Day and we celebrated it by doing a Shoe Box Swap using stamp sets from the current catalogue or Mini Holiday catalogue. Each demonstrator selected a different stamp set and prepared cards for the 20 attending demonstrators. We are a group of combined groups here in the High Desert that work together, play together and enjoy each other.

The results were amazing. The cards were fantastic (more on those tomorrow), the food - pot luck - was beyond good and we had way too much fun. We had a fairly brief time limit since we only had the room from 11:30 - 6. By the way, we have to thank the Victorville Elks Lodge #1877 for their generosity for the use of the room. Very nice!

We had boxes to collect Cards for Troups and Cards for Ronald McDonald House. We gave raffle tickets for being on time, making and wearing a name tag,  cards for the two boxes and for bringing "share" cards and projects.

Here are a few of the photos of SU Demonstrators working feverishly to finish their 20 cards, grab a soda and a cupcake, take a "nature" break once in a while and then help with the clean-up. What a fantastic group of people!

IT'S TIME TO REMEMBER!

Good Morning. The first and probably the only important thing I have to say today is - REMEMBER! Today is September 11th. Say a small prayer for the lives lost and the great unbearable damage done to our sense of security for the great nation we live in. We now know that we are vunerable and must be vigilant. REMEMBER!

NOW ON TO HAPPIER THINGS!

Todays card was a lot of fun. I was surprised at the size of the stamp when it arrived. I hadn't looked too closely at the image in the books ao I was delighted when it came and was HUGH!

The card was stamped twice - two seperate time - with Versamark, apply black embossing powder, being careful to cover compeltely. Took a couple of tries to get it real good. On one of the images, use our Stampin' Up! markers to get the bright, intense colors where you want them to be. Color the second copy on the images you want to raise with demensionals, cut them out and place them on top of the first card. For the inside, I cut out a ghost shape to stamp on because the card is dark - Elegant Eggplant with Green Galore and Only Orange layers. Fun card to make!

Boy have I been busy. Don't get sickly folks - the catch  up is a bugger!

One more. Uses 1 stamp set and can be done quickly if you get caught without a card ready and is good for almost any occassion.

I have posted the Build-A-Bears that I have ready to show as well as a stamped version of them. They are soooo cute and soooo much fun to play with!

Finally! A real post of things past.

                                     

This cute little frog punch was the punch class this month

. We do two of the "punch art" pieces that we assemble. One is for the card that we make, one is for our punch book and then we have a 3rd unassembled one that goes into our book for reference. We put punches and sizes, etc. Fun class and always on the 2nd Wednesday and Saturday of each month.

NEXT The # 1 stamp set - Medallion -used on Pamm Stevens swap and # 2 - Dasher -used on Margie Andersons swap. AMAZING. Obviously, price is NOT the selection critiera.

No wonder Dasher is so popular.He is SO Gorgeous!  He is on page 208 as one of the under $10 stamps!

And now one of the Make N Takes with one of my favorite photos. This was taken in July when my daughter Lori was here and we all went camping at Table Mountain in Wrightwood. We  - Mike, Lori, Trace, son-in-law Matt, myself and other friends - had the time of our lives and we were all young again.
